Buffet

Food at the Horizon Court was good, albeit standard buffet fare, with the exception of the desserts which were disappointing. There were themes for several of the lunches, with the Alaskan seafood buffet offered on the day we sailed Glacier Bay being the most spectacular. The Horizon Court offers 24-hour dining, which the teens in our group enjoyed, as they ate breakfast just before noon, lunch in the late afternoon, and dinner with us at 8. It was nice to know that there was food service at all times, so you didn't feel that you had to rush back to the ship from port in order to eat lunch. A continental breakfast was offered, then full breakfast, then lunch, then hot sandwiches and snacks, then a dinner buffet, then snacks again late at night with no break in the service. There is no midnight buffet on any night as the Horizon Court offers late night food. I feel midnight buffets are a nice touch and would like to have seen even one during the week.

** Helpful hint: While there is indeed 24-hour food service in the Horizon Court, the late night snacks consisted mainly of leftover desserts and boxed cereal.

Additional Dining Choices

· There is a grill that serves hamburgers, hot dogs, etc., which are very good.

· Afternoon tea is served daily in the dining room with scones, clotted cream and jam, as well as finger sandwiches and delicious cookies, all presented with white glove service. Not to be missed!

· Verdi's Pizzeria is located on the Dolphin Deck and serves very good pizza and calzones. The only drink at Verdi's that does not involve pulling out your cruise card is tap water. They don't even offer iced tea and coffee, and you are given the impression that you are expected to purchase a soda or wine.

· The Sterling Steakhouse is a portion of the Horizon Court that is sectioned off in the evening. For an $8.00 charge, the menu offers steak, French fries, peach cobbler, etc. We did not sample this restaurant.
